It’s full speed ahead for the September Fair

Top global jewellery marketplace to present product debuts, forward-thinking trends and innovative solutions

Fully set up and raring to go, the 2019 edition of the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair – the ultimate global jewellery marketplace – promises to amaze, inspire and energise visitors with its exceptional programming.

Organised by Informa Markets, the September Fair will be held as scheduled from September 16 to 20 at the AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) and from September 18 to 22 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

Preparations for the sourcing event are proceeding smoothly despite recent public incidents in Hong Kong. Operations at the Hong Kong International Airport have returned to normal. The Airport Authority has stepped up security, and a court injunction has been secured against activities that interfere with the proper use of the airport except in the designated areas in the arrivals hall.

Informa Markets recognises and is addressing the concerns expressed by some exhibitors and visitors on security matters and the fair’s operational requirements. Committed to providing a secure, safe and enjoyable trade show experience to exhibitors, visitors and its staff, the trade show organiser has adopted a series of contingency plans in close collaboration and partnership with the venue management teams, contractors and suppliers. These measures are designed to respond to potential incidents that may happen outside the normal range of the show’s operations, including special move-in and move-out arrangements at AWE and HKCEC, and regular updates on traffic conditions before and throughout the show period. Updates will be regularly posted on the show’s official website and social media platforms.

Buzz-worthy events

The 2019 edition of the September Fair may be facing unprecedented challenges, but Informa Markets is not letting these special circumstances prevent it from delivering the best programming that the show has ever seen.

One of the most highly anticipated events at the fair will be the unveiling of two fine jewellery collections by two icons. British luxury carmaker Bentley, which is celebrating “100 extraordinary years” in 2019, will unveil the capsule collections through an exclusive partnership with Heinz Mayer, a family-owned manufacturer dating back to 1599, in the Grand Foyer of the HKCEC.

A fitting tribute to the centenary of one of the most revered car brands in the world, the limited-edition collections – “Wings” and “Everlasting” – were inspired by the car’s logo, the “Bentley Wings.” The handcrafted masterpieces are made of gold and platinum with diamonds.

Hini Star, one of the jewellery sector’s top forward-thinking companies, will be launching impressive innovations in the diamond industry at the September Fair. Witness Hini Star’s unmatched brilliance when the fair opens on September 16 at the AWE.

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) will likewise host a reception on September 16 at AWE to mark the institute’s 88th anniversary and GIA Hong Kong’s 25th year in the city.  Earlier this year, GIA opened its new facility in Kowloon. In addition to the anniversary celebration, the institute will host GIA GemFest 2019 at the AWE and hands-on sessions at the HKCEC on “Identifying Lab-Grown Diamonds” and “Low Temperature Heat: Treatments of Mozambique Rubies and Basaltic Blue Sapphires.”

Known for its High Jewellery collections, Shanghai Kimberlite Diamond Group Co Ltd will present awe-inspiring diamond creations at the fair, from statement necklaces to sculpture-like bracelets and rings. Expect Shanghai Kimberlite Diamond to host another spectacular showcase celebrating artistry, fine craftsmanship and the timeless beauty of diamonds.

The JNA Design Conference, scheduled for September 19 at the HKCEC, is another event not to be missed.  Anchored in the theme “From Inspiration To Innovation – The Designer’s Journey Of Creativity,” the panel discussion – the first event of its kind organised by JNA – offers visitors the opportunity to connect with some of the most creative and innovative jewellers, designers and gemstone specialists in the industry, namely, Fei Liu, Alessio Boschi, Sarah Zhuang, and Sanjay Kothari, vice chairman of the KGK Group.

If you want to connect with decision-makers, meet potential business partners and hear from experts and influencers, plan your visit to the September Fair now. The September Fair offers the final sourcing opportunity for serious buyers who are building up their inventories for the coming peak selling seasons.
